Fall of the Samurai

Hey gamers,

I’m a little late on this one but I just downloaded the newest stand-alone expansion to Total War Shogun 2 and I had no idea how much they’ve improved the game.

So what’s new?

There are 6 new playable clans, 39 new land units, 21 new naval ships, naval assaults, land vs. sea battles, and a new third person view where you can personally aim and fire the cannons (gattling gun included).

The reason I didn’t buy this expansion initially was because I thought it was the same game with a new campaign. Boy was I wrong. I guess I should have figured that out when I saw it was an entirely seperate expansion (meaning yout don’t have to own Shogun 2 to play it).

Anyways, It’s pretty much an entirely new game. My biggest frustration with all of the previous games was the fact that your ships couldn’t help your land forces and vise versa which is fairly unrealistic for such a realistic game. This game pretty much “ties the knot” for the series when it comes to overall completeness (is that a word?) of the game.

Get it or Skip it?

Get it. This expansion has truly opened my eyes to what is capable for the franchise. If you like the total war series at all, get this game. It will blow your mind.

I’m predicting the next game to be Empire Total War esque but in the 19th century. What blew my mind is that I pretty much thought they could never go past the 18th century with the mechanics of the game but now I could even see them doing a WWII Total War. What do you predict?
